The cost of custom printed packing tape depends especially on the number of logo colors and the meters per roll. Tape width, thickness, adhesive, background and order quantity also affect the quote. Comparing the same specification makes it easier to see which offer fits your packaging budget.
Why Logo Color Quantity Affects the Price
A one-color logo generally requires less printing preparation than a design with multiple ink colors. Each additional color can add setup and alignment work. The exact price difference depends on the artwork and order quantity; it is not a fixed percentage per color.
For example, compare a black logo with a black-and-blue version using the same width, length and quantity. Ask for both quotations before deciding whether the extra color is worth the cost for your packaging. Fine details, gradients and heavy ink coverage also need an artwork review.
A single-color brand name or thank-you message can still be clear and recognizable. See our packing tape with logo options when choosing a background and print layout.
How Tape Length Changes the Unit Cost
Longer rolls contain more film and adhesive. A 48 mm x 100 m roll contains twice the tape length of a 48 mm x 50 m roll, but its quoted price is not necessarily exactly double because preparation and conversion costs also contribute.
Price per 100 meters = price per roll ÷ roll length in meters × 100. Use this calculation with matching width, adhesive, thickness and printing. Fewer roll changes may save packing time, but they do not by themselves prove a lower purchase price per meter.
Illustrative Price Comparison
The following numbers demonstrate the calculation only. They are not StickBond selling prices.
| Example | Roll length | Example price | Cost per 100 m |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | 50 m | US$1.00 | US$2.00 |
| B | 100 m | US$1.80 | US$1.80 |
In this illustration, B costs more per roll but 10% less per meter. Freight and any separately quoted setup charges must be considered before comparing the total order cost.
Tape Width, Thickness and Adhesive Also Matter
A wider roll uses more material for each meter. When comparing thickness, check whether the figure means BOPP film thickness or total tape thickness including adhesive. Thickness alone does not establish how well a tape will seal your cartons.
Choose the specification around carton surface, packing conditions, dispenser or sealing-machine compatibility and storage requirements. Test adhesion on the actual carton when evaluating a new specification.
Clear, White or Colored Background?
Clear tape leaves the carton visible, so the carton color affects how the printed logo looks. White tape provides a consistent background for text and artwork. A colored background can make the design more visible but may change coverage and color-matching requirements.
Ask for a proof of the logo on your preferred background. Keep ink color count and tape background separate in the inquiry, and let the artwork review confirm the printing arrangement. Our guide to choosing custom printed packing tape explains the other decisions involved.
Order Quantity and Setup Costs
StickBond's MOQ starts from 360 rolls. Confirm quantity per design and specification when requesting a quotation. Larger orders may spread printing preparation costs across more rolls, but storage needs and freight also matter.
Ask whether printing setup and packing are included, and whether the quote is for a first order or a repeat order using approved artwork. For distributor purchasing, use our wholesale custom tape specification and cost checklist.
