A logo on packing tape looks simple, but the finished result depends on more than the artwork file. Tape width, print size, repeat spacing, background color, and the way the tape looks on a real carton all matter.
For this customer-approved example, the buyer chose a white tape background with a bright, single-color design. The artwork proof showed how the design would repeat along a 48 mm-wide roll. A finished sample was then applied to a kraft shipping carton so its appearance could be assessed in a real packaging setting. The customer approved publication of the sample photos; commercial details remain confidential.
Why check the artwork proof?
A design that looks clear on a computer screen may feel too small, too crowded, or too widely spaced once printed on tape. Before approving custom printed packing tape, check:
- Whether the logo and text remain readable at the actual tape width
- How often the design repeats along the roll
- Whether the print color contrasts with the tape and carton
- Which direction the design will face when the carton is sealed
Review the proof at its stated dimensions rather than judging only by how large it appears on screen.
What the carton sample shows
On the finished carton, the printed tape created a visible band of color across plain kraft cardboard. The same strip used to seal the box can also carry a consistent brand design. Seeing the tape on an actual carton is more useful than viewing a flat proof alone because it shows the print at its working scale.
A physical sample helps assess appearance, but it does not by itself establish adhesive performance. Tape strength should be evaluated against the carton surface, package weight, storage conditions, and shipping requirements.
Planning your own logo packing tape
When comparing suppliers, send the same specifications to each one: tape width, roll length, background color, number of print colors, quantity, and delivery destination. Ask to review the artwork layout before production. Compare quotes using the same meters per roll, not just the price per roll.
